The Forest Den
The Forest Den is St Clare's Nurture Class, providing a safe, caring and supportive environment where children can develop confidence, build positive relationships and thrive both emotionally and socially.
While many children settle into school life quickly, some may need additional support at different points in their school journey. The Forest Den offers nurturing experiences and personalised support to help children feel secure, valued and ready to learn.
What is a Nurture Class?
A Nurture Class provides a small, welcoming environment where children can develop important social and emotional skills through a range of experiences and activities.
Activities may include:
- Sharing breakfast
- Talking about feelings
- Creative activities
- Learning through play
- Cooking and baking
- Outdoor learning
- Educational visits
How Children Are Supported
Children remain members of their own class and continue to be part of the wider school community.
They spend part of their week in The Forest Den, working with experienced nurture staff who provide personalised support tailored to their individual needs.
The aim is to help children develop confidence, resilience and positive relationships which support success across all areas of school life.
Working Together
If a child is being considered for The Forest Den, staff will work closely with parents and carers to discuss whether this would be the most appropriate support.
Nurture staff collaborate with class teachers and families to ensure children receive consistent support across all aspects of school life.
Every child is unique and support is carefully tailored to meet individual strengths, needs and circumstances.
